I need to install the driver of my sound card which is built-in the motherboard but the problem is that I dont know which sound card is in my pc. I have conatcted the motherboard manufacturer and tried to identify the sound chip by looking at the motherboard but all to no avail.Is there any software utility or any other way I can identify my sound card?

Is it possible to upgrade the sound card in a compaq presario c300ea laptop?
I want to upgrade the sound card so i can use my computer for music production with cubase and also DJ'ing with.

The first real question is - is the laptop powerful enough to handle Cubase?
The 1.6Ghz Celeron processer may not have enough "oomph" to do the job, and 1Gb may be insufficient memory.
However, if you still decide to go ahead, there is some bad news and some good news. As the previous poster has indicated, you cannot upgrade the internal soundcard but you can plug an external device in to the USB port.
If you are in the UK, this little box may be adequate although it is more of a digital interface than a soundcard - useful if you have a mixing desk with a digital output

Its a five year old Dell and they, nor the Mgr support the driver anymore. We just do without the sound.
If the computer has '98 on it, then its almost 9 years old and is literally considered a dinosaur. We invested in a new laptop. In the computer world, you gotta pay to play.

Reply:What I would recommend doing is going to Download.Com You can usually get anything you need from there, or go to the Dell website. BUT, I have to agree with the other guy, there is probably a 5% or less chance that they will be able to do something for Windows 98. You'll have to get another operating system. Borrow a disc from someone if you need to, but I don't think you'll have alot of luck with 98. Good luck and I hope you find something!!

Where can I find a sound card for my Windows ME computer? How do I install it?
I have a wonderful sister who deleted a bunch of stuff, most notably my sound card for my (outdated) Windows ME computer.
I need to find another one - preferably a download that doesn't cost me a bundle-that will work with my computer, and how to install it.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
