I want to use both digital and analog outputs from my computer and my current soundcard only offered one or the other. I bought another analog card but they're not playing together nicely- I can only seem to get one working at a time by disabling the other one. Is there some kind of sharing conflict going on? And if so, can I get around it so that both cards are enabled at the same time?
Can I run two sound cards simultaneously?
After some research on the web, I believe this would be application specific. That means the software you are using is only designed to work with only 1 sound card. It makes sense, because what about recording? It would be impossible to record from 2 sources at the same time.
If you are some audiophile or sound researcher then, I am sure there is software out there that works with more than 1 sound card at the same time.
P.S. If both cards work, when you change them, then the IRQ is setup fine.
Reply:I concur. Theoretically, it would be possible and they could be assigned different IRQ numbers. However, I do not know of any application that requires, and therefore supports, two soundcards.
Reply:Its an IRQ conflict, you have to set both cards to use different IRQ's, should let you in CMOS..
