How to get two sound cards to have the same audio output, merge sound cards? WINXP?

I have two sound cards.

1) One being built onto the motherboard,

2) One being a PCI card.

* I want both cards to have the same audio output.

I can only seem to enable one at a time.. I dont want to use just one, i want to use both at the same time....

Mabe there is a software which can let me manage the audio output.

Thanks.

Why do you want to use both?

The card based one is most likely more capable than the on board sound, and in any case, you cannot use both. You would need something to synchronise the waveforms of the output, otherwise you'd get distortion or even zero sound (if the waveform of the two cards is 90 degrees out).

I assume you're thinking of using them like two power-amps, one for the left channel and one for the right. That's not going to happen. Sound cards are a pre-amp, not an amp in it's own right. That's why you use powered speakers with a pc.

JBV^_^
Reply:You can't run two sound cards off one pc soon as you plug them in one of them will kick the other one off. what you need is a stereo splitter to plug into the sound card for what ever it is your trying to do.
