Is it possible to use 2 sound cards in one pc?

Im building an audio server and want to run the audio from the computer to 2 different areas in the house.

Is it possible to use 2 sound cards in one pc?
I think for what you are trying to do, it wont work. In Windows, you can have 2 different sound card installed, but you will only be able to use one or the other at a time and not both.

You're trying to get whole house audio of sorts and probably use the MP3 files from your computer. I would use some sort of hardware appliance to achieve that.

Check out www.sonos.com They have a solution you might be interested in.
Reply:Yes, it is definitely possible to have 2 or more sound cards in one PC, however not all players offer selection of sound output.

I haven't seen this option in iTunes, but Windows Media Player, Winamp and MediaMonkey definitely have it.

To play into two or more cards at the same time, you'll need to start multiple instances of the player sofware (possible with at least Winamp), or use different players (i.e. Winamp and WMP).
Reply:Yes, it is possible, my pc has a built-in and the inserted sound card, but i had to disable the other one because it conflicts with the built in.
