I have a dell E520 desktop with integrated sound card.

Do integrated sound cards have a good Signal-to-Noise Ratio?
I'm assuming you have integrated surround sound audio from your motherboard and that it is Intel HD Audio. Check this website out for more information. In short, integrated audio is not too shabby nowadays, but of course a discrete sound card would give you better results. And you can get great sound cards for cheap ($25 Chaintech AV-710 with 106 dB SNR).
