I have several audio devices with optical outputs. I want to know the best and cheapest sound card that takes these inputs.
It would be nice if the card had the optical connector mounted directly on it and not have an external breakout box.
Thanks!
What is the best sound card for optical input?
The best sound card for optical inputs is the Sound Blaster X-FI Elite Pro. For the money it is worth it. It has an X-Fi I/O Console that will let you plug virtually any device into it. I run both optical ports for my stereo.

Reply:Wow, that's an expensive card.
I found the Diamond XS71DDL sound card for much cheaper than that one. I also found another A/Open sound card with both optical and coaxial inputs for thirty dollars, too. Both cards us C-Media chipsets.
Thanks anyway, your answer was very helpful. Report Abuse
