I have a wonderful sister who deleted a bunch of stuff, most notably my sound card for my (outdated) Windows ME computer.
I need to find another one - preferably a download that doesn't cost me a bundle-that will work with my computer, and how to install it.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Where can I find a sound card for my Windows ME computer? How do I install it?
1)Locate a sound card online via eBay or Google for local retailers
2) Installtion requires a CD-ROM with driver software/applications for the SoundCard, usually they are nothing more than a PCI card, inserted into an open slot
3) I recommend SoundBlaster products- reliable, stable, and relatively cheap- drivers are easy to find
4) Use driverguide.com for free downloads and searchable results on brands
Good luck
Reply:Try one of the free operating systems.
Get UBUNTU (or XUBUNTU if your computer has less than 256MB of RAM).
It's a free, reliable and up to date operating system.
You can explore it from the "LIVE CD".
It's easy to install and use. You can dual boot it with other operating systems.
Once you have it installed, you gain access to thousands of free programs created by the open source community. There is excellent support - see the WIKI starter guide, and the Linux forums.
Always back up your data before making changes to your computer.
