I installed a new sound card to my Windows 2000 HP computer and I can hear sound from the mic, but not from any other media (including programs and internet). This is frustrating. Please help me.
How do you make sound appear after adding a sound card?
Go into the bios and DISABLE the onboard sound. It will conflict with the sound card if not disabled.
On boot hit delete of F2 or what ever it syay to go to setup. go to onboard devices and disable it there.
Then reboot and if you have a driver disk install the new drivers. If not Windows sometime will load their generic drivers. Also you can go to your sound card mfg's web site and download the drivers.
Reply:Check to see that the drivers have been installed properly. (Generally I look for new drivers even when setting upa new machine, try this step.)
Make sure the drivers are loading by checking the started services.
Try one of the standard sounds schemes and see if you can hear them when using then test function
Make sure both the speakers and the sound volume are turned on and up.
Good Luck......
