Are sound cards worth their price tags ?
If you play games or are into watching movies or listening to lots of music on your PC, absolutely yes. One of the best values in sound cards right now is the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme music, the lowest end X-Fi card. In games you will get a much better depth of feel for the environment as it improves on how many sounds can be run at one time.
If you have a 4.1/5.1 or 7.1 speaker system attached to your computer you need at the very least a Sound Blaster Live!, a little better than that is the Audigy 2 (at $64). But the best one right now you can get without breaking the bank is the X-Fi Xtreme Music at $120.

Reply:it all depends what you do with your PC if you just are gonna listen to mp3's probably not if you are gonna play high end games you might want to look into it
