Is it possible to run 2 sound cards simultaniously on a PC using the same source input?

You can install 2 at a time but not use them at the same time. Windows will make you chose one as the default However I suppose you could alternate back and forth enabling and disabling each one as needed but most hardware changes require restart so it would be a pain in the ****. I would suggest getting a headphone extension cable and plugging it into your speaker output of your tower and bringing your speaker plug up where you can reach it this way you can switch from speakers to headphones more easily or purchase a set of speakers that have a headphone jack in them.

Good luck hope this helps

No because when you install two sound cards into pci slots one of them will throw the other on off automatically no pc's that i have built have ever had two sound cards. And i have never been asked to install two either..One is all you need.
Reply:guessing that as sound card pci any number can be used on one computer, the setup may need to be made specific to prevent feedback and any other problems that may occur

best thing is to get cheap /second hand card and try it shouldnt do any damage good luck

ps have you tried utilising audio connector on motherboard if there is one
Reply:This is a hardware question and you will have a better chance of obtaining a suitable answer. I have tried to install two TV cards but there was a conflict of hardware and I assume that you will have the same problem with two sound cards. You can try, and if a conflict occurs, Windows will let you know at start-up and have a chance to remove one of them. It is no good buying a new sound card because there is a 99% chance that it will not work.
Reply:Don't be ridiculous.

One is more than enough.

the other can be a graphics card.
