Could the PCIe video card or the pci sound card be making the monitor not turn on?

Ok I just built my computer. i haven't been able to get the monitor to show anything. I plug it into the motherboard or the 2600 video card i bought, and it stays black screen, like it's not being recognized. Could the video cards be clashing, and the requests be the same, or maybe the sound card is doing something. Should I take the extra's i bought out and boot with motherboard alone, than add later? Thanks.

you should boot with the bare minimum initially but first, check if your cpu hsf are really plugged in, your 12v rail plugged in and you have at least 300w of good power.
Reply:if you have on board video card you should disable it 1st in bios setup , or try revove your other video card and see if you get anything on monitor then
