I need to get a new sound card as my Creative Labs Audigy 1 seems to be on the fritz...lately it's making a bunch of crackling sounds when playing MP3s and Games. I have been hearing about a bunch of problems though with the new X-fi card from CL and how it's making crackling sounds on a bunch of consumer's computer systems. I'm not too happy with Creative's support either....they seem to take steps backward whenever they release new drivers and they like to pass blame on to other things. The only other card I've been looking at is the M-Audio Revolution 7.1.....this card is older, and only supports up to EAX 2.0 (as CL was decided to be jerks and not license the tech to other companies past 2.0). Should I go with M-Audio or CL? Does only have EAX 2.0 make that big of a difference, especially if I don't play that many games?

If you are just using it for sound, GO CHEAP. If you are using it as a part of a Sound Studio, then consider a Turtle Beach or other brand that Sound people use.
