How do I know if i have a sound card that will work with a 5.1 Surround sound system?

I am thinking about purchasing the Logitech X-530 5.1 surround sound system and I heard that you need a 5.1 sound card installed to make it work or sound better? How do I know if my computer has it? I have like 6 holes in the back of my computer with different colors so i dunno if that is the sound card. I looked in my drive and saw that my sound device is Sigmatel HighDef Audio Codec. Will this work? If not can i purchase any sound card as long as it has 5.1 in it? please reply asap thanks.

if you got 6 holes in the back of your computer you got yourself a 5.1 surround sound. just change your settings.
Reply:first you need to ask yourself if you have an onboard sound card or if its a independent card installed in your computer.

if its an on-board sound card just consult the manual and it will tell you if its capable of 5.1 surround. or you could simply check it online.now if you have a seperate card for you audio again check the manual.

since you have 6 ports on the back part of your computer for the sound card.be sure that the sound driver you have installed also supports 5.1 surround.now if youre sure about those info its safe to say that you can use 5.1,6.1 or 7.1 speakers to your computer

Good Luck
Reply:you must see the holes having very short distance from the hole the speakers are connected to (at least must be 4 with the hole already connected) if not the sound will be heard but not 100% quality.

Good Luck
