How do i know what kind of sound card I have?

It says i dont have one, I have all the ports for a sound card. Where would it be located inside the computer? I cant find a site that list all the components the computer comes with. Its a gate way 4000 E-seires. If i was missing a A sound card driver would it say i dont have one? I have tried the gateway web site.

How do i know what kind of sound card I have?
Click windows key and pause break key

click on hardware

click on device manager

click on plus sign on left of sound, video and game controllers in the drop down you should be able to see the sound card with "audio" as a suffix example : Realtek AC'97 Audio

if not you will need to install the drivers using the cd or dvd the manufacturer provided you with.

In the computer it is embedded on a PCI slot... its a typical long rectangular chip with lots of ic's and connected to the back of the tower through the middle, with 3 coloured sockets coming out from the back of the tower in which your speaker cable is plugged in

If any further doubt send me an email

Cheers
