How do I check for a sound card on my PC?

I bought a computer from a friend, she does not know if the computer had a sound card. I want to know if there is a way I can check if it already has one installed.

How do I check for a sound card on my PC?
Go to your control panel and it should be listed under sound devices.
Reply:Plug headpohes in and insert a CD.
Reply:Just play a sound.
Reply:look for speaker and mic outputs on the back of the pc
Reply:Every computer right now has a sound card, look on the back there sould be 3 ports pink blue and green. You connect the speakers to the green.
Reply:You can check if your computer has a sound card by doing these few steps:

-go to Windows "Start Menu"

-click on "Run"

-then type "dxdiag"

Running "dxdiag" will launch "DirectX Diagnostics Tool," which basically sums up your computer. Look at the top, where it lists each section in tabs, look for "sound," if there is something there, then there is a sound card installed. If not, your computer does not have a sound card, or the sound card has not been installed.
Reply:Look at the back of the computer, you will be looking for a small round hole about the size of a headphone jack. You may see 1,3,5 or more arranged in a row. If these are located right by the connectors for the mouse, keyboard and usb you most likely have integrated sound. If they are arranged horizontally and lower in the case by some removable brackets then you probably have a sound card.

If you mean is your computer capable of playing sounds then the answer is most likely. Look for a circle like I mentioned, it will probably be green. This is a common color used to denote a speaker out connection. Most computers built in the last 8-10 yrs have sound built-in.
Reply:look @ back of computer if ther are three little hole next to each other on top of a big yellow input, then you have a sound card,

if you want to put in speakers, plug into green little hole
Reply:Look for headphone jacks in the back of the tower. I'll almost bet money on that there are some. Then you'll have to go to the manufacturers site and download the correct drivers if they simply don't work when you plug your speakers into the green headphone jack.
Reply:Go to control panel-%26gt;sounds and multimedia

There if no device is available(all dialogs are disabled under audio tab) then it means that the drivers for the sound card are not installed.

Check manufacturer to know which driver to install(which you might be able to download from the web)
