How do you find out if your computer is compatible with a pci sound card?
Hi. This link shows your machine as having three PCI ports. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/sy... PCI based soundcards will be compatible.

Reply:The slots are white slots and just be sure to turn off the on-board audio card in the bios first before installing the new card.Plus never work inside a comp that is plugged in.

One thing I find best is to turn off the on-board card in bios then allow the system to reboot fully before shutting it down and unplugging it and installing any new cards.

Hope that helps and best of luck
Reply:read the info on the link below

you have a total of three pci slots and there should be 1 open

you will have to disable the old sound in the bios first

then open up the box

put in the new card

plug the little wires from the cd and or dvd drive to the sound card

then install the new one from the cd setup

you might have to adjust the bios again to turn on the new sound card
Reply:It most likely is compatible, but to check, take the case off of the computer, and look for a slot that looks like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...

If you see one, then the sound card is compatible.
