How much sound quality improvement will i get by upgrading from a motherboard sound slot to a sound card???
When i switched from my on board AC97 sound card to a $80 soundblaster I noticed absolutely no difference. Pissed me off something awful
Reply:I play alot of music through my main PC.

What I'll say if you have tiny speakers you'll get a tiny sound.

It worth buying better speakers before you get a better card.

I had a set from tesco of all places for about £17 with a bass boost type speaker.

Best thing I ever did.
Reply:The only thing is that your mother board has 2 channels in your sound card its 7.1channels. That means the quality of your sound card is improved provided you have a 7.1 speaker system attached to it.
Reply:If you are carrying out general tasks like playing, mp3 music, divx movies etc. absolutely no difference whatsover.
Reply:You will only notice the difference if you are really into music. The main point of having a seperate sound card is to free processing power so that video games go quicker. If you are doing recording that would be another reason.
Reply:the new sound card supports 7.1 speakers so you must at least purchase a 7.1 speakers to maximize your sound card's.

If you have a good sound card and also a good speakers, then the difference can be significance.
Reply:Its true what the other poster are saying about upgrading your sound card about how it doesn't increase performance that much.

A better way to get improved sound quality would be to buy a better set of speakers or headphones. Thats how you get improved sound quality.
