Will the multimedia speaker work if there is no sound card installed?

And how can I know if I have a sound card or not? What is the price for sound card? Where can I find them or buy them? Thanks!

They will work if there is sound built onto the motherboard. Unless the motherboard is designed with surround sound in mind, all you will get is stereo in most cases. If your motherboard does not have built in sound, then no they will not work at all. I personally like Sound Blaster cards. They cost around $100.00 for a very descent card. You can buy them at most any computer electronic type store, ie Best Buy, Comp USA, Circuit City, etc. You will know that you have a sound card, if it is in one of the PCI slots on the back of the computer. It should have a picture of a speaker on it. Otherwise, the sound connections will be up near the top of the computer on the back. Check out www.soundblaster.com to get an idea of what sound cards and speakers are all about.
Reply:No card no sound. lol.

Price? Depends. Write down the make and model of your computer and call Best Buy or you can google the make and model of your computer and type sound card after it. That should get you some suggestions.

Look in your hardware menu to see if you have a sound card installed and if it's working properly.
