How can I identify my sound card?

I need to install the driver of my sound card which is built-in the motherboard but the problem is that I dont know which sound card is in my pc. I have conatcted the motherboard manufacturer and tried to identify the sound chip by looking at the motherboard but all to no avail.Is there any software utility or any other way I can identify my sound card?

try doing a windows update and the utility should update through microsofts web site...
Reply:go to device manager and check out the soundcard model





press win+pause break , go to hardware, then to device manager , this will list all the hardware connected. Yellow question mark indicates improperly installed drivers . check out ur soundchip under the audio heading and install proper drivers..

type "dxdiag" with out commas


press YES if asked


a new window will be opened.. it will scan ur system for hardwares


click on the sound tab


u will fid the model and driver version of ur sound card there...





OR u can search for model number of ur mother board on internet... since it is bulit in...u can found the name of ur soundcard easily
